A Cross in Gushegu — The Ghana Chapel Auction (Payment2)

The Mission

In the dry savanna of Northern Ghana, in a town called Gushegu, something quiet and extraordinary is taking shape. For the past several years, MissionInvest has been building and launching the Queen of Sheba Health Clinic — a maternal and child care facility whose motto is "Bringing Life with Love." The clinic opened its doors on September 20, and from January 1 it will welcome its first patients, offering safe childbirth and care to a community that has long needed it.

On the same site, a chapel is rising from the ground.

Designed to seat between 100 and 150 people, this house of prayer is being built to serve as the spiritual centre of the Queen of Sheba compound. Every day, clinic visitors and local residents will be able to encounter the Word of God, receive pastoral care, join weekly devotions, and find comfort in a place where life and vulnerability meet. In the words of Dr. Gerben Boon, the tropical doctor leading the clinic:

"The motto of Queen of Sheba is 'Bringing Life with Love'. At the clinic, we hope to welcome new life, surrounded by care and love. In the chapel, we long to encounter the Source of Life. We pray that the people of Gushegu will experience the love of Jesus in both places."

Why This Chapel Matters

Gushegu sits in Northern Ghana, a region where the majority of the population is Muslim and where mosques are a familiar and growing part of the landscape. The chapel has been designed deliberately in the shape of a cross — not as a provocation, but as a clear and faithful testimony. It is a visible declaration that the Source of Life is present here, that the global body of Christ has not forgotten this community, and that the love of Jesus is being offered freely alongside medical care.

The urgency is real. Construction has already begun. The team has chosen sustainable materials and a solid structural design intended to last for generations. Rather than a simple tin roof, the chapel will carry a solid hardwood roof structure with long-lasting materials, supported by the expertise of a craftsman from the Faroe Islands. This is not a temporary shelter. It is a permanent house of faith.
