Library & Seminary Classroom Floor — İzmir, Turkey
İzmir Protestan Kilisesi Derneği
In İzmir, Turkey (ancient Smyrna), İzmir Protestan Kilisesi is establishing its 4th-floor Library and Seminary Classroom within a new 6-floor Ministry Center. Outfitted with passcode access and dual security cameras, this 45 m² priority floor features private acoustic study carrels and a 12-person meeting table.
The space serves 69 church members—focusing on university students, remote workers, and Bible study groups—while establishing the physical foundation for future theological seminary courses in western Turkey.
The Calling
Located along Turkey’s Aegean coast, İzmir holds a monumental place in biblical history. Known in the New Testament as Smyrna, it was home to one of the Seven Churches of Revelation—a congregation commended by Christ for remaining faithful through intense suffering and poverty (Revelation 2:8–11). Today, Turkey has a population exceeding 85 million, yet less than 0.2% identify as Christian, making it one of the most unreached nations on earth. Evangelical Protestants nationwide number fewer than 10,000 believers. Amid significant secular and societal pressures, a distinct spiritual openness is emerging among the younger generation. University students and young professionals in İzmir are actively searching for eternal truth, seeking out Scripture, and asking deep questions about faith. However, local believers face a critical shortage of quiet, safe, and dedicated environments to study God's Word, pursue academic work, and undergo theological instruction. To meet this need, İzmir Protestan Kilisesi is building out its six-floor Ministry Center. While four floors are funded, the strategic priority remains completing the fourth-floor Library and Classroom ($20,000 budget). Secured by passcode entry and dual security cameras, this floor provides a sanctuary for 69 church members—specifically university students, remote workers, and discipleship groups—while establishing the physical foundation for a future theological seminary in western Turkey.
